Workshop Description:

Merriam-Webster defines socialization as the process beginning during childhood by which individuals acquire a society's values, habits, and attitudes.

Bobbie Harro’s “Cycle of Socialization” is a framework that explains how socialization shapes individuals from birth, influencing their beliefs, behaviors, and interactions with others. Through the examination and application of these principles, real estate agents can significantly shape communication amongst colleagues and clients by influencing how they perceive, interact with, and understand each other.

 

Workshop Objectives:

  1. Understand the influence of socialization around differences (including race, religion, sexual orientation, and gender);

  2. Understand and reduce bias through awareness and the promotion of inclusivity.

  3. Foster effective teamwork with increased cultural competence and shared understanding

  4. Improve conflict resolution by recognizing power dynamics and providing empathy and perspective communication.

  5. Develop competencies to continue dialogue and awareness-building
